As the sport tentatively approaches a return to racing, Hasler races may start to happen again this autumn if the organisers are able to take appropriate COVID safety precautions.
However with local lockdowns some clubs may not be able to attend races at other venues, some may not feel ready to travel, and race formats may need to be adapted to COVID needs.
Therefore, the MRC has decided that Hasler club points will not be awarded in any races until the start of 2021.
Race organisers are free to organise divisional races in the usual format if they are able to do so safely, and the suspension of Hasler points may allow races to take place with smaller entries or fewer clubs attending, without adversely affecting next year’s Hasler Final.
As a result any such races will not count towards an individual’s qualifying quota for the 2021 Hasler Final, or their club’s standing in the regional inter-club qualifying. Both of these requirements will be reviewed by the MRC for the 2021 Hasler Final, with a decision made once racing returns properly.
