MRC International Selection Policy 2021

The MRC Selection Committee is publishing the 2021 International Selection Policy, in the hope that there will be a return to international competition in the coming season.

So much is inevitably up in the air. As a result, and in the expectation that competition will resume slowly, the MRC has decided to prioritise planning for a large team to attend the World Championships in Romania in September, and not to send a team to the European Championships in Moscow. The size of the planned team will offer opportunities for a far larger number of athletes to be selected for the Worlds, across more classes than in past years. However, unless the world health situation and associated restrictions ease, our usual programme of development internationals will not happen.

We have assumed the need for flexibility in case the situation improves quickly, with an eye on a potential World Cup in Europe in May, and the French National Champs for U16s in October, but neither of these can be confirmed at this stage.

Please email James Smythe, Chair of the Selection Committee, with any questions.
