  Sprint Policies Feedback

The Canoe Sprint International panel, in order to further improve future selection policies, is welcoming feedback on the 2018 Selection Policy.

They are keen to know specifically what you liked and how it can be improved, while maintaining the principles of objectivity, transparency and clarity on specific races for selection to identified events.

  MacGregor Inter-club Challenge Final Results and updated Official Results

Final and updated scores for the MacGregor Inter-Club regatta, which took place at the July Regatta, are now available. The Official Results have also been updated to include the MacGregor winner’s name and the points for the top 10 clubs. They also now include the Canoe Promotions.

  Flatwater Racing Skills Day at Roadford Lake, Devon

British Canoeing will be running a racing skills day on Saturday 18 August 2018 at Roadford Lake, Devon.

The Racing Skills Programme is established to encourage those athletes who love to paddle, whether it be in Sprint, Marathon, WWR, Paddle Ski etc, and who would like to develop their skills in different environments whilst meeting different paddlers and coaches to learn from each other.

Racing skills look to bring coaches, athletes and parents together to share knowledge and to allow those to be better informed to aid the growth of the young paddler in a fun and inventive way. This day will mostly be aimed at athletes aged 12-18 years old.

The Theme of the day: The Model Athlete
The factors with a beneficial effect to performance development. We aim to cover:

  • Mental
  • Tactical
  • Technical
  • Commitment
  • Lifestyle
  • Physical
  • Balance of training with school work

There were be 2x on water sessions, workshops and an open Q&A sessions for parents and coaches.

Attending this 2-hour workshop for coaches will give you an 18-month update to your CPD.

Parents:

There will be a 45-min presentation once the athletes have started their 1st Session.

  Club Representatives at the ACM

Annual Consultative Meeting – Saturday 2nd September 2017 – National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham – 75 minutes after the last race on Saturday evening.

All affiliated Canoe Sprint Racing clubs can nominate 1 member to represent their club and vote on behalf of their club. The club representative must be a fully paid-up British Canoeing member.

To speed up the checking-in the process, where each representative’s membership is validated before any voting takes place, can the club representative please bring their BC membership card with them to present at the meeting.

  May 2017 National Sprint Regatta – Marathon 5km K2 Assessment

Notice for Team Leaders and competitors in the marathon 5km K2 assessment races:

For those paddlers taking part in the 5km assessment races, the Marathon Racing Committee has confirmed:

  1. the course will be 1 large lap to the 1000m mark and 2 small laps to the 500m mark,
  2. boats are to be sprint weight (18kg) not marathon weight,
  3. entries on the day will be charged a late entry fee of £19 rather than £14 if entered pre-regatta.

Notice for Team Leaders:

We are extending the entries deadline for the May 2017 regatta by 24 hours to Thursday 20 April 2017 at 23:59.

Unfortunately, we are still awaiting a fix for the bug that is stopping you entering crew boats for Masters events. There are also a few other small bugs impacting one or two clubs, which we are also trying to clear. I will advise the impacted clubs as soon as these are resolved.
