England Talent Programme Club Partnerships

Please read this message from Richard Ramsdale:

Dear all,

I would like to bring to your attention the official launch of our Club Engagement Strategy today. As part of the Stronger Together strategic plan, the England Talent Programme is committing to supporting and working in partnership with English Olympic discipline performance focused clubs during the Tokyo Olympic cycle and beyond by providing additional engagement, resources and support.

The England Talent Programme recognises the important role that clubs play in the talent pathway, in providing opportunities for young people to develop their skills and passion for the sport. The first phase of this engagement and opportunity is a grant scheme available to clubs in order to help establish a sustainable, paid, jointly funded coaching role for your club.

We are inviting clubs to read through the detail of the Club Partnership Programme (which can be found on the relevant disciplines section on our webpage). We are asking qualifying clubs to enter into the process of being considered for grant support by submitting an initial expression of interest by 12 noon on 23 October 2017.

If there are any specific questions or queries please contact the relevant Talent Pathway Manager, included below, that will be overseeing their discipline’s Club Partnerships links.

I came into the competitive discipline of Canoe Slalom at a late age and have never been in a position to benefit from any formal development programme inclusion, instead I was fortunate to be part of a series of active clubs that ignited a passion for the sport that saw me progress through the domestic ranks and introduced me to the coaching pathway which has now become my career. I will be forever grateful for these opportunities and formative experiences and hope that through our Club Partnership Programme we can help more clubs provide similar experiences to more aspirational Canoe Slalom and Canoe Sprint athletes.

Mark Hoile – Talent Pathway Manager (Canoe Sprint)

The Club Partnership Programme is an exciting new venture to work alongside a small number of canoe clubs that wish to have Sprint Canoeing at the heart of their Club. This programme helps the club to develop self-sustaining business models to support the cost of its coaches, to support the development of clubs, their coaches and their athletes.

Warmest regards

Richard Ramsdale
