Over the last few months we have conducted a review and public consultation of the England Talent Canoe Sprint Programme. There is a very real desire to further strengthen the talent environments within clubs as an integral and fundamental part of the athlete talent pathway within Sprint Racing. The England Talent Canoe Sprint Plan has been released recently which marks a significant change in direction, with more investment and resource to support clubs and their club coaches to develop talented junior paddlers and a reduction of investment in regional squads.
This direction was established with the introduction of the Talent Club Partnership Programme launched in 2017 and this plan will serve to underpin and support the work of all English clubs within the Sprint pathway.
The England Talent Canoe Sprint Plan is subject to British Canoeing Board approval, the document on the link below sets out the strategy for the England Talent Canoe Sprint Plan through to 2025. Its delivery will of course be reliant in the continued support from the key stakeholders including Sport England and the clubs within British Canoeing.
